APP - Breast Surgery (Breast Surgical Oncology): Providing comprehensive clinical care for patients with breast disease, breast cancer, and elevated hereditary cancer risk with an accent on diagnostic evaluation, perioperative care, survivorship, and genetic risk assessment. Focus on developing individualized surveillance and prevention plans, coordinating multidisciplinary oncology care, and managing post-operative follow-up.
Location: Springfield, Oregon, United States; primarily clinic-based with occasional operating room coverage of less than 5% of work time.
Salary: $120,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do
- Evaluate patients with breast cancer, high-risk breast lesions, hereditary cancer syndromes, and abnormal breast imaging.
- Review medical histories, imaging, pathology, laboratory studies, and genetic testing results.
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative assessments, including wound evaluation and drain management.
- Develop surveillance, prevention, and risk-reduction plans for patients with elevated hereditary or familial breast cancer risk.
- Coordinate genetic testing and educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment, recovery, survivorship, and lifestyle changes.
- Collaborate with breast surgeons, oncology, radiology, pathology, genetics, nursing, and navigation teams; participate in tumor boards and quality improvement.
Requirements
- For nurse practitioners: MSN, completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program, and current RN and APRN licensure in the practicing state.
- For physician assistants: completion of an accredited physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification, and state licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification is required.
- Prior experience or strong interest in breast surgery, oncology, women's health, genetics, or high-risk patient care is preferred.
- Genetics experience is not required; training and mentorship are provided.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of patient handling, extensive standing and walking, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
