Oncology Nurse Navigator (GI) (Oncology Nursing/Patient Navigation): Providing individualized guidance, education, care coordination, and psychosocial support for patients and families throughout the cancer continuum with an accent on evidence-based clinical care, treatment transitions, and patient-centered decision-making. Focus on coordinating complex care, facilitating referrals, monitoring navigation outcomes, and collaborating with interdisciplinary oncology teams.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid schedule with 2–3 days onsite per week

Salary: $44.14–$109.51 per hour

What you will do

  • Provide oncology nursing care, assessment, education, documentation, and care coordination for a defined patient population.
  • Serve as the primary nursing contact and liaison among patients, families, caregivers, and oncology providers.
  • Guide patients through active treatment, survivorship, chronic cancer management, palliative care, and end-of-life transitions.
  • Provide psychosocial support, facilitate referrals, and support shared decision-making based on patient goals.
  • Participate in patient education, call triage, program development, quality improvement, research, and outcome tracking.
  • Monitor patient safety and maintain evidence-based practice in compliance with nursing standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is strongly preferred. Associate-degree nurses must complete a BSN within four years.
  • Completion of the Oncology Nurse Residency Program or at least one year of recent Registered Nurse experience.
  • Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or, as appropriate, the State of New Hampshire required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required; AHA ACLS is accepted as the minimum requirement.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, organizational, problem-solving, independent decision-making, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Experience in ambulatory care or oncology is preferred; patient care includes young adults through geriatric patients.

Nice to have

  • Professional nursing certification such as OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, or RN-BC.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
  • Ambulatory or oncology nursing experience.
