Distribution and Gas Planning Engineer (Staff, Senior, or Principal)

Salary: $81,000–$156,600 per year, depending on level and experience.

What you will do

• Develop and support integrated strategic plans for gas and electric distribution systems.
• Evaluate future scenarios, innovative solutions, system constraints, regulatory requirements, and cost-benefit considerations.
• Integrate traditional and non-traditional resources, including demand response, non-wires alternatives, non-pipes alternatives, virtual power plants, energy efficiency, beneficial electrification, energy storage, and managed charging.
• Lead engineering projects through research, design, equipment selection, procurement, installation, commissioning, and technical support.
• Prepare technical documentation, calculations, reports, standards, bid materials, and proposal evaluations.
• Communicate recommendations and planning processes to internal and external stakeholders while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; electrical or civil engineering is preferred.
• Staff level: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; EIT/FE is strongly preferred.
• Senior level: 5+ years of relevant experience with EIT/FE, or 7+ years without EIT/FE; PE registration may be required depending on business need.
• Principal level: 9+ years of relevant experience with PE registration, or 15+ years without PE.
• Ability to lead complex utility engineering projects and demonstrate the technical competencies required for the selected level.
• Experience with utility load simulation and resource modeling tools such as Encompass or LoadSEER is preferred.
