Electric System Operator (Distribution Dispatcher)

Location: Gahanna, Ohio; must live or be willing to relocate within 45 minutes of the AEPOH Gahanna building.

Salary: $63,496–$109,543 annually, depending on dispatcher level.

What you will do

• Monitor SCADA, grid telemetry, and distribution system conditions in real time.
• Execute safe switching orders and authorize energizing and restoration of distribution facilities.
• Dispatch and coordinate service personnel, crews, and contractors during outages and emergencies.
• Track crew locations, outage priorities, ongoing work, and abnormal or defective equipment.
• Maintain accurate outage records and communicate status information to operations leadership and stakeholders.
• Support company safety, health, policy, compliance, and ethical standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any field, an associate degree in electrical or electronic technology, or a high school diploma with two years of technical customer support and service experience.
• For dispatcher progression, two years of experience as a Distribution Dispatcher Associate; for senior progression, two years as a Distribution Dispatcher.
• Successful completion of required training and examinations is required for progression through dispatcher levels.
• Rotating 10–12-hour shifts are required and may change monthly.
• Must maintain high availability for call-out response and live or relocate within 45 minutes of the Gahanna reporting location.
• Must make critical decisions under pressure during system emergencies and manage multiple situations simultaneously.
