Senior System Operator (Power Systems)

Location: Manchester, NH, United States. The role requires emergency storm assignments and travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire as necessary.

Starting rate of pay: $71.09 per hour

What you will do

• Make operational decisions and direct the safe, reliable, and economical dispatch of interconnected transmission and distribution systems.
• Monitor real-time system status and implement system changes through SCADA under normal and abnormal conditions.
• Plan and approve switching, grounding, tagging, outage coordination, and restoration activities.
• Perform online and offline security analysis, load-flow studies, and contingency planning.
• Coordinate emergency procedures, load shedding, fault isolation, equipment repairs, and restoration with ISO-NE, local control centers, and neighboring companies.
• Provide guidance to on-shift operators and field personnel, including shift relief, emergency response, and operational oversight.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of related dispatching or equivalent power-system operations experience, or 3 years as an ESCC System Operator with a proven leadership record.
• Associate degree in engineering, business administration, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• NERC Transmission Operator Certification required.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.
• Knowledge of NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE, control-center, switching, tagging, protection, and power-system operating procedures.
• Ability to work emergency assignments and travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary.
