Commercial Construction Project Engineer (2027)

Location: Raleigh, NC; fully onsite for the 12-month training program, with commuting to jobsites within a 30–40-mile radius of the assigned office

What you will do

• Complete a structured, one-year HITT Futures development program with mentorship, training, performance reviews, and hands-on commercial construction experience.
• Maintain jobsite offices and project records, including construction documents, daily reports, submittal logs, RFI logs, and subcontractor correspondence.
• Support site operations through inspections, construction tasks, building protection, schedule updates, material take-offs, supplier orders, and deliveries.
• Interpret basic coordination drawings, as-built drawings, tests, and technical reports, while assisting with survey and layout work.
• Coordinate subcontractor foremen’s meetings and support project managers with logistics, budgeting, and client management.
• Support the corporate safety program through safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required safety reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Military experience or an accredited associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or business is strongly preferred.
• Previous commercial jobsite experience and a strong interest in onsite construction work are preferred.
• Ability to communicate professionally, manage multiple priorities, collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and colleagues, and adapt to changing construction methods and technology.
• Ability to learn Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, and JD Edwards software.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
