Senior Project Superintendent (Commercial Construction)

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. This is an onsite construction role; most work is performed at the project site. Local travel is expected, with occasional long-distance and overnight travel depending on the project. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

What you will do

• Oversee field activities for large projects or multiple smaller projects, including site logistics, sequencing, and trade contractor coordination.
• Develop and enforce project-specific safety programs, conduct orientations and inspections, investigate incidents, and address violations.
• Coordinate work plans, progress meetings, schedules, subcontractor mobilization, and completion of trade contract work.
• Interpret construction documents, review constructability and submittals, recommend construction methods, and coordinate overlapping work areas.
• Manage quality expectations, rolling punch lists, daily reports, project status reviews, contingency planning, and conflict resolution.
• Support project team development through mentoring, feedback, learning opportunities, and collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least 10 years of commercial construction experience in a leadership role as a Foreman or Superintendent, including multiple projects or a single large or complex project typically valued at $40 million or more.
• Training or coursework in construction management, project management, safety, or communication.
• Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, site requirements, trade methods, materials, risk management, and job cost accounting.
• Ability to lead large groups, manage subcontractors, resolve conflicts, communicate clearly, and build relationships with owners, architects, contractors, and project teams.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Procore, BIM, and Microsoft Project. U.S. work authorization is required.

Nice to have

• At least five years leading a large or complex commercial construction project.
• OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, or other safety and quality certifications.
