Senior Construction Project Manager (Commercial Real Estate)

Location: San Mateo, California; Workplace: Hybrid. Periodic travel to project sites is required.

Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 annually, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

hirify.global is hiring for a SelectLeaders client managing a diverse portfolio of retail, commercial, and mixed-use real estate assets.

What you will do

• Serve as the owner's representative for commercial tenant improvements, retail repositioning, office buildouts, and capital improvement projects.
• Lead budgeting, estimating, scheduling, scope development, feasibility assessments, procurement, and contract administration.
• Manage architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders through design, permitting, construction, and closeout.
• Review drawings and specifications, identify constructability and cost risks, and manage RFIs, submittals, inspections, change orders, and documentation.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost-to-complete reporting while coordinating with leasing, asset management, property management, and operations teams.
• Conduct site visits, oversee quality and safety, address building and systems challenges, and support long-term capital planning and asset preservation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of construction management experience, including commercial tenant improvement, retail, office, or capital improvement projects.
• Experience with a commercial real estate owner, developer, construction management firm, or general contractor with a strong tenant improvement practice.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building systems, structural considerations, permitting, and code compliance.
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, contracts, consultants, stakeholders, and project execution from preconstruction through closeout.
• Proficiency with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar construction management platforms, plus Yardi or comparable budgeting and reporting systems.
• Strong communication, organization, analytical, problem-solving, and risk-management skills.

• Commercial retail tenant improvement experience.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across a geographically dispersed portfolio.
• Established relationships with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and industry partners.
• Experience with occupied buildings, ground-up development, redevelopment, or major capital improvement projects.
