Commercial Construction Project Engineer (2027)

Location: Richmond, Virginia, United States; fully onsite for the 12-month training program, with commuting to jobsites within a 30–40-mile radius of the assigned office required.

Salary: $70,000 per year base salary; compensation may vary in other cities and states.

What you will do

• Participate in a paid, 12-month HITT Futures development program with onsite mentoring, training, and performance reviews every four months.
• Set up and maintain jobsite offices, construction records, project directories, document logs, daily reports, and subcontractor correspondence.
• Support construction activities through drawing updates, site inspections, material take-offs, supplier orders, deliveries, scheduling, and coordination with subcontractors.
• Assist superintendents with survey and layout instruments, subcontractor foremen meetings, construction tests, and project-specific technical tasks.
• Support project managers with logistics, budgeting, client management, and cost-impact analysis.
• Help implement the corporate safety program through safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Military experience or an accredited associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or business is strongly preferred.
• Previous commercial jobsite experience is strongly preferred, along with a strong interest in construction and onsite work.
• Ability to learn Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, JD Edwards, and other project software.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication, organization, integrity, adaptability, collaboration, punctuality, and initiative are required.
