SolidWorks Electrical Designer (SolidWorks)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States (TAS-Cullen HQ); travel to manufacturing, vendor, customer, or project sites may be required.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain 3D SolidWorks models and assemblies for electrical equipment, cable management, controls, instrumentation, grounding, and bonding systems.
• Produce electrical design packages including layouts, schematics, interconnection drawings, cable and wire schedules, installation details, and bills of materials.
• Coordinate electrical routing and equipment placement with mechanical, structural, piping, controls, manufacturing, project, and field teams.
• Identify clashes, access conflicts, unsupported routes, constructability issues, and serviceability concerns before release.
• Support manufacturing, purchasing, quality, panel shops, installation, startup, and commissioning through technical issue resolution and controlled revisions.
• Improve SolidWorks templates, libraries, routing standards, drawing practices, checklists, and repeatable modular design methods.

Requirements

• 5+ years of electrical or controls design/drafting experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing, modular construction, power distribution, MEP systems, or a comparable engineered-product environment.
• 5+ years of hands-on SolidWorks experience creating 3D parts, assemblies, layouts, and production drawings.
• Experience producing manufacturing- or installation-level electrical drawings, schedules, bills of materials, and controlled design documentation.
• Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, I/O lists, cable schedules, vendor drawings, and mechanical or structural layouts.
• Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70 and relevant UL and IEC requirements, applied under engineer direction.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or engineering education is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with SOLIDWORKS Routing, SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D, SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic Professional, or comparable electrical CAD platforms.
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM/EPDM, electrical libraries, reusable components, drawing templates, macros, and design automation.
• Background in data centers, chiller plants, central utility plants, mission-critical systems, or modular MEP equipment.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Infor LN, or comparable tools.
