Electrical Junior Designer Intern (Electrical Engineering)

Location: On-site in Portland, Maine, USA; duties may also be performed at project and construction sites as required.

What you will do

• Perform calculations for circuit sizing, lighting levels, equipment sizing, building loads, and related electrical analysis.
• Design lighting systems and controls, receptacle layouts and circuiting, branch circuit panelboards, fire alarm devices, nurse call systems, and specialty devices.
• Build and maintain electrical Revit models, including system connectivity, notes, schedules, details, and panelboard load-sheet automation.
• Coordinate electrical power feeds and interfaces with mechanical, fire protection, architectural, and other trade designers.
• Process senior-staff markups, communicate design and scheduling information, and support corrections and minor design updates.
• Visit design and construction sites, review existing conditions and contractor submittals, and help respond to RFIs.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates, senior staff, management, architects, and other disciplines.
• Interest in the AEC industry and willingness to learn and contribute to engineering projects.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform duties on-site or at project locations as required.
• Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or Revit is advantageous.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with generator vendor sizing tools, power distribution equipment modeling tools, SKM, Easy Power, Elum Tools, or AGI32.
• Prior internship or co-op experience in the AEC industry.
