Team Lead, AI Engineering

Location: Chicago, United States

Annual base salary: $200,000–$250,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skills. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead a unified AI Platform Team consisting of software engineers and AI support specialists.
• Set the technical vision for the Federated Management Plane, including multi-engine API gateways, asynchronous data pipelines, and progressive friction policies.
• Balance agile engineering delivery with high-touch user enablement and support.
• Translate prompt engineering issues, quota requests, and other support insights into technical requirements and automation opportunities.
• Connect cloud infrastructure, third-party SaaS vendors, and internal on-premise AI hardware to support seamless model routing.

Requirements

• Experience managing cross-functional technical teams spanning software engineering, platform operations, or product support.
• Strong architectural background in distributed systems and API gateway management.
• Technical expertise with Go and Python.
• Ability to define operational governance, cost-control workflows, and vendor management strategies.
• Ability to transition rapid prototypes into stable, permanent enterprise platforms.
