Senior Systems Engineer (Autonomy & Software)

What you will do

• Apply systems engineering principles to develop and integrate autonomous defense systems.
• Translate mission objectives, operational needs, and customer requirements into system, subsystem, software, and autonomy requirements.
• Develop system architectures, functional decompositions, interface definitions, Interface Control Documents, requirements traceability, and verification strategies.
• Coordinate integration across autonomy, software, guidance, navigation and control, avionics, hardware, test, and platform engineering teams.
• Define interfaces between autonomy, vehicle systems, mission systems, sensors, communications, payloads, and external systems.
• Develop software, prototypes, analysis tools, test infrastructure, and engineering utilities in C++ and Python; investigate system behavior using simulation, logs, telemetry, and test data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, robotics, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience developing, integrating, or delivering complex software-intensive systems, preferably in aerospace, defense, robotics, or autonomous systems.
• Hands-on experience developing and debugging software in C++ and Python.
• Experience with autonomous or robotic systems, including perception, planning, estimation, guidance, navigation, controls, or mission autonomy.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and complex defense systems.
• Experience with requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, verification, system architectures, interface definitions, and system-level engineering documentation.
