Database Engineering Manager (Postgres/Oracle)

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States; four days onsite at Seneca One Buffalo, NY, with the option to work from home one day per week.

Salary: $139,700–$232,900 annual, in USD.

What you will do

• Lead the Database Platform Engineering team and provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development for 8–12 direct reports.
• Design, implement, optimize, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance Postgres and Oracle database platforms.
• Lead technical product management for strategic database engineering products, including product roadmaps, backlogs, requirements, and implementation plans.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, software engineering, IT, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with organizational needs.
• Drive production issue resolution, escalations, next-generation feature delivery, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
• Maintain technology, risk, regulatory, audit, documentation, and internal control standards.

Requirements

• At least 11 years of combined higher education and/or work experience, including 4 years in engineering and/or architecture and 5 years of leadership experience with people management.
• At least 5 years of database-related experience, or 8 years of technology experience including 3 years in a database or infrastructure role.
• Experience with Postgres and/or Oracle; strong expertise in database engineering is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Agile experience, including methodologies, project cadences, ceremonies, and Jira.
• Ability to work onsite in Buffalo four days per week.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Subject matter expertise in Postgres and Oracle.
• Experience with Azure data functions.
