Mechanical Engineer, Payloads (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, United States; in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office

Salary: $100,000–$195,000 annual base salary, excluding additional benefits

hirify.global is a fast-growing aerospace startup that manufactures satellite buses at scale through software, vertical integration, and hardware designed for manufacturing.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical designs and 3D models for payload hardware, mounting structures, brackets, enclosures, and supporting components.
• Own payload mechanical integration from concept and interface definition through manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
• Perform structural analysis and hand calculations for strength, stiffness, mass, and environmental requirements.
• Create engineering drawings, GD&T documentation, interface control documents, and hardware specifications.
• Collaborate with payload, structures, thermal, avionics, RF, manufacturing, suppliers, and systems engineering teams to resolve integration issues.
• Support hands-on assembly, integration, environmental testing, troubleshooting, and technical design and test reviews.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience designing and developing mechanical hardware.
• Proficiency with CAD software for 3D modeling and drafting, such as NX or SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of structural design, material selection, fasteners, tolerance analysis, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Strong hands-on problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Mechanical hardware design experience in spacecraft, satellites, aerospace, or other high-reliability systems.
• Payload mechanical design and spacecraft-level payload integration experience.
• Experience with full hardware development lifecycles, structural analysis, FEA, and aerospace manufacturing processes.
• Experience with vibration, shock, static, and thermal vacuum testing, as well as hands-on flight hardware integration.
• Experience with NX and Teamcenter, and familiarity with ASME, NASA, or other aerospace qualification standards.
