Director, Communications Strategy & Operational Excellence (DBS)

Location: USA — remote or on-site in the Boston office; travel requirements are estimated at 30%–40%.

Annual salary: $140,000–$190,000, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Support Communications leadership in developing and sustaining the enterprise Communications long-range strategy, strategic project roadmap, and KPI frameworks.
• Design operating rhythms, governance forums, and decision-making cadences that improve alignment and execution.
• Lead DBS capability development within Communications Operations and coach senior leaders and teams on Transactional Process Improvement principles.
• Apply DBS Fundamentals, including VOC, VSM, 5S, Standard Work, Daily Management, and Problem-Solving Process.
• Establish enterprise-wide Communications standard work, ownership models, review cycles, planning cadences, budgeting, forecasting, and measurement frameworks.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in DBS, strategic planning, PMO leadership, or enterprise-level Communications Operations within complex global organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Advanced certified DBS/Lean practitioner with enterprise-scale experience in TPI, PSP, Daily Management, Policy Deployment, Kaizen events, governance systems, KPI/Bowler management, and portfolio discipline.
• Strong strategic, analytical, problem-solving, financial, and business acumen.
• Experience orchestrating complex multi-workstream initiatives, influencing senior leaders, aligning stakeholders, and driving outcomes in matrixed environments.

Nice to have

• PMP certification.
• Experience with Corporate Communications, PMO, or enterprise transformation teams.
• Experience operating across highly matrixed global enterprises.
