Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Base pay: $185,000–$240,000 per year

What you will do

• Define board-level hardware architecture, technical roadmaps, design standards, and methodologies across multiple product lines.
• Architect and own complex multi-layer PCBs for NIC cards, PCIe add-in cards, chassis boards, and high-performance connectivity platforms.
• Drive signal-integrity, power-integrity, impedance, stack-up, power-delivery, clocking, reset, and management-interface strategies.
• Lead hardware bring-up, validation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action frameworks for complex platforms.
• Coordinate with silicon, SI/PI, mechanical, thermal, firmware, system, manufacturing, supplier, and executive teams.
• Mentor senior and lead engineers and represent hardware engineering in design reviews, customer engagements, and industry forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 12+ years of progressive hardware design experience with deep board-level electrical engineering expertise.
• Production experience with server, networking, storage, or high-performance computing hardware.
• Expertise in SerDes systems, PCIe Gen5/Gen6, 400G/800G Ethernet, signal integrity, power integrity, and PDN design.
• Mastery of schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro or OrCAD.
• Experience leading bring-up and debug with oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and advanced laboratory instrumentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with NIC, accelerator, server chassis, or system board architectures.
• Expertise in 800G Ethernet, emerging 1.6T interfaces, retimers, redrivers, and advanced clocking.
• Experience with PCIe and Ethernet compliance workflows or industry standards bodies.
• Contract manufacturer management, production ramp, yield optimization, and hardware automation experience.
• Python or similar scripting for lab automation, measurement analysis, and hardware characterization.
