Editor, Healthcare Dive

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States; hybrid with in-person work three days a week or more

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Identify, edit, and write daily stories and features covering insurers, hospitals, health IT, healthcare policy, hospital consolidation, AI, and digital transformation.
• Elevate breaking news briefs, short-form stories, and in-depth analyses of healthcare trends.
• Develop sources, report on complex subjects, and pitch stories for the assigned healthcare beat.
• Plan and execute large editorial projects and collaborative storytelling initiatives.
• Work with freelancers by assigning, editing, and providing feedback on their work.
• Contribute to innovative storytelling formats, data visualization projects, and daily email newsletters.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in journalism or a related field.
• At least one year of experience covering healthcare, health insurers, hospitals, digital health technology, life sciences, or a relevant sector.
• Demonstrated editing, writing, and reporting experience across breaking news, short-form briefs, and long-form stories.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively on deadlines.
• Ability to analyze trends, data, economic forces, and issues relevant to business leaders.
• Ability to work from the Portland, Oregon office three days a week or more.

Nice to have

• Experience reading earnings reports and identifying information useful to executives.
• Experience with project management and collaborative editorial projects.
• Familiarity with daily email newsletters.
• Experience with data visualization or innovative storytelling formats.
