Senior Staff Technical Program Manager (Automotive)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $231,000–$306,000 per year base salary, plus potential RSUs, stock appreciation rights, and sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the vehicle program and provide technical direction across body-in-white, structures, doors, mechanisms, glazing, suspension, subframes, tires, wheels, and by-wire systems.
• Coordinate engineering execution across internal teams, external suppliers, manufacturing, quality, procurement, service, and engineering partners.
• Develop program schedules, maintain BOM integrity, approve critical build processes, and drive quality and cost initiatives across the supply chain.
• Track program progress, technical risks, and open issues while developing mitigation plans and driving issues to closure.
• Lead root-cause analysis for critical design and build issues affecting vehicle performance, quality, and production readiness.
• Guide design reviews, DFMEAs, validation programs, and manufacturing mock-builds to optimize performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of automotive engineering experience focused on body, closures, or chassis design and project management.
• Experience with CATIA V5/V6, PLM and BOM management, FMEA/FTA, 8D, Fishbone analysis, JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, Gantt charts, ERP, and ALM tools.
• Experience designing for crash, NVH, reliability, strength, and corrosion attributes.
• Track record of managing complex cross-functional projects, external design suppliers, contract manufacturers, and end-to-end NPI programs.
• Ability to travel globally as required and communicate effectively with suppliers, manufacturing teams, engineers, and executives.

• Familiarity with hardware and firmware product development, vehicle CAN, and firmware.
