TL;DR
Security Response Analyst Student (Cybersecurity): Developing security systems and workflows while identifying, assessing, and coordinating remediation for software vulnerabilities in BlackBerry products and services with an accent on vulnerability triage, risk evaluation, and incident response. Focus on using Python and agentic tools, analyzing code behavior, creating remediation solutions, and supporting secure software development.

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 43,472–59,280 per year

What you will do

  • Develop systems and workflows that scale security efforts.
  • Use agentic tools to locate, assess, and recommend remediation for software vulnerabilities.
  • Triage vulnerabilities and evaluate risk using industry-standard metrics such as CVSS.
  • Prioritize and coordinate case-specific response activities to drive timely remediation.
  • Continue developing security knowledge while supporting the security and resilience of hirify.global products and services.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, diploma, or equivalent post-secondary qualification in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Python programming and debugging experience.
  • Experience with agentic coding assistants and the ability to analyze code behavior.
  • Ability to manage multiple parallel activities and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and collaborative skills.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of secure software development lifecycles and application security configuration best practices.
  • Understanding of product security vulnerabilities and attack and defense methodologies.
  • Reverse engineering skills.
  • Knowledge of cryptography, including public-key cryptography, hashes, and SSL/TLS.
  • Ability to create proof-of-concept exploits for common vulnerability types.
