Cyber Defense Analyst – Data Loss Prevention

Location: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Hybrid workplace model with at least four full days per week in an hirify.global office; planned weekend and non-business-day change windows may be required.

Salary: CAD 60,000–65,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead daily Microsoft DLP monitoring, queue management, prioritization, SLA tracking, quality reviews, and escalations.
• Guide alert triage, evidence collection, case documentation, and true-positive or false-positive validation across Microsoft 365 and cloud environments.
• Coordinate responses to confirmed, high-risk, repeat, or sensitive data loss events with Insider Risk, Incident Response, DLP Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders.
• Manage Palo Alto URL Filtering profiles, including policy changes, URL categories, whitelisting and blacklisting governance, troubleshooting, exceptions, and rollback support.
• Represent Cyber Defense Operations in CAB meetings and manage the security change lifecycle from intake and risk assessment through implementation validation and closure.
• Develop SOPs, runbooks, quality checklists, operational playbooks, and analyst coaching materials.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, data protection, DLP operations, proxy governance, security operations, or incident handling.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto URL Filtering, Panorama, NGFW, Prisma Access, or SASE policy changes.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft DLP alert triage, investigation, evidence collection, escalation, reporting, and operational tuning.
• Strong experience with security change management, CAB processes, impact assessment, approvals, implementation validation, and audit-ready documentation.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance tools, sensitivity labels, data classification, SIEM, ticketing systems, and case management workflows.
• Ability to work in the hybrid office model and support planned weekend or non-business-day change windows and on-call coverage when required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, information security, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is considered.
• Security+, Network+, CEH, CCNA, CISSP, or equivalent certification.
• Prior lead or senior analyst experience.
