Senior Infrastructure Security Specialist (Cybersecurity)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work model with approximately 40% of time spent on-site

What you will do

• Provide security engineering expertise for infrastructure, cloud environments, networks, systems, databases, identity systems, and related technologies.
• Own vulnerability and configuration management, including scanning, risk-based prioritization, remediation coordination, metrics, and platform administration.
• Operate and improve SIEM, security monitoring, log-source integrations, detection use cases, and collaboration with the external MDR/SOC provider.
• Manage endpoint security and EDR/XDR capabilities, including policy configuration, alert investigation, containment, remediation, and recovery.
• Contribute to incident investigations involving infrastructure, endpoints, identity, networks, and cloud environments.
• Support cloud security, automation, infrastructure hardening, and technical controls for Government of Canada and other regulated environments.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including hands-on infrastructure security, security engineering, or security operations.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, networking, cloud, enterprise IT, firewalls, network segmentation, secure protocols, and identity and access management.
• Experience with vulnerability management, SIEM and security monitoring, endpoint security, EDR/XDR, and cybersecurity incident investigations.
• Experience securing AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments and applying operating-system hardening and secure configuration practices.
• Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, and CIS Controls/Benchmarks.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance appropriate to the role.

Nice to have

• Experience with Tenable, Securonix, SentinelOne, or comparable security platforms.
• Experience with external MDR/MSSP/SOC providers, Government of Canada contracts, Protected or Classified information, audits, or compliance activities.
• Security automation or scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or APIs.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, cloud security tooling, automated configuration management, or relevant security certifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
