TL;DR
Data Protection Specialist (Privacy/Financial Services): Leading privacy reviews, Privacy Impact Assessments, data protection controls, and remediation activities across Fidelity Canada with an accent on regulatory compliance, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration. Focus on maintaining audit-ready privacy inventories, investigating incidents, developing metrics and dashboards, and continuously improving data protection practices.

Location: Flexible hybrid schedule; current work location at 483 Bay Street in Toronto, changing to 3 Robert Speck Parkway in Mississauga in late 2026. Current work authorization for Canada is required.

Salary: $79,000–$113,000 CAD in total annual cash compensation, including base salary and target bonus.

What you will do

  • Conduct privacy reviews and assessments for projects, systems, and business processes involving personal data.
  • Lead Privacy Impact Assessments and define risk mitigation measures.
  • Recommend, implement, and monitor data protection controls and remediation activities.
  • Maintain privacy risk, control, and assessment inventories with audit-ready documentation.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Security, Risk, Compliance, and Legal stakeholders on privacy requirements.
  • Investigate privacy incidents, develop metrics and dashboards, deliver awareness initiatives, and improve the data protection program.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in data privacy, data protection, information risk management, or a related field.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • Practical experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments, implementing privacy controls, and managing remediation activities.
  • Experience maintaining tracking tools, inventories, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Current authorization to work in Canada is required.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of data governance, data management, cybersecurity, or information security.
  • Professional privacy certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CIPT.
  • Knowledge of financial services, products, processes, and the industry.
