Software Development Manager (Aurora Control Plane)

What you will do

• Lead the Aurora Serverless Control Plane team responsible for Aurora Serverless v2 and enterprise features.
• Set the team roadmap, prioritize the backlog, and coordinate delivery with product managers, support teams, senior engineers, and other managers.
• Provide technical direction, review designs, and guide development of distributed systems for large-scale cloud-native databases.
• Develop engineers from junior to senior levels through mentoring, coaching, and challenging projects.
• Work with customers to understand use cases and shape product vision and feature delivery.
• Own operational performance, including manager on-call duty one weekend every three months, incident mitigation, and root-cause resolution.

Requirements

• Knowledge of engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
• Experience managing engineering teams and experience working in engineering.
• Experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
• Strong communication skills for working with users, technical teams, and senior leadership.
• Ability to recruit, hire, mentor, coach, and manage software engineers.
