Lineman (Powerline Technician)

Location: Surrey, Canada; field work in the Lower Mainland and traveling required

Salary: CAD $68.73 per hour, paid weekly at the IBEW 258 Sub Foreman Lineman rate.

What you will do

• Operate a Ford F-550 bucket truck with an insulated 37-foot boom.
• Use a 40-foot stick to install and retrieve ammeters on energized 25 kV overhead lines from the ground.
• Complete electronic reporting, document control, and job-related administrative work using a laptop and smartphone.
• Coordinate closely with and follow direction from BC Hydro security team members.
• Maintain a safety-first approach while working in varied field conditions.

Requirements

• Experienced Red Seal Journeyperson Powerline Technician.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Physical fitness to perform overhead-line work in all conditions.
• Strong computer skills and clear written, spoken, and electronic communication.
• Ability to pass BC Hydro security screening, including a criminal record check.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
