EHS Technician (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite work on the production floor and in outdoor test environments

What you will do

• Conduct daily and weekly EHS walkthroughs across manufacturing, R&D, and test areas, documenting findings and supporting hazard controls.
• Coordinate site coverage with the EHS Specialist across inspections, training, open items, and field support.
• Inspect and maintain PPE, lockout devices, eyewash and shower stations, fire extinguishers, and spill kits.
• Maintain hazardous waste accumulation areas, satellite areas, and staging containers for scheduled shipments.
• Support chemical labeling, storage segregation, inventory maintenance, and hazard communication requirements.
• Coordinate training logistics, attendance tracking, records filing, and directed onsite response actions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant post-secondary education, recognized EHS training, military safety training, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• One to three years of hands-on EHS, industrial hygiene, environmental, or safety support experience in a manufacturing, R&D, construction, or industrial environment.
• Familiarity with OSHA and Cal-OSHA workplace safety requirements.
• Ability to complete inspection forms, logs, and records accurately.
• Ability to work on production floors and outdoors, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, and wearing required PPE including respiratory protection.
• Ability to meet U.S. export control requirements under ITAR or EAR and access applicable export-controlled information without additional licensing.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or industrial hygiene.
• Two or more years of EHS experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or another high-hazard industry.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, DOT hazmat shipping, forklift, RCRA, or first aid/CPR certifications.
• Experience managing hazardous waste accumulation areas under RCRA or California hazardous waste requirements.
• Startup or fast-paced environment experience.
