TL;DR
Lead Mechanical Engineer - Mechanical System Owner (Combined-Cycle Power): Serving as the mechanical system owner and technical authority for assigned assets at a combined-cycle power station with an accent on equipment reliability, lifecycle planning, outage support, and regulatory compliance. Focus on diagnosing complex equipment issues, leading root cause analyses, developing maintenance and replacement strategies, and managing capital and O&M projects through commissioning.

Location: Primarily onsite at Citrus Combined Cycle Station in Crystal River, Florida, United States. After-hours, weekend, outage, emergent support, and station duty-call participation may be required. Travel: 5–15%.

What you will do

  • Own assigned mechanical systems and equipment, overseeing condition, performance, reliability, maintenance strategy, and long-range planning.
  • Monitor system health using operating data, PI trends, predictive maintenance results, inspections, equipment history, and engineering evaluations.
  • Lead equipment failure reviews, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and resolution of complex reliability and operating issues.
  • Provide engineering leadership for planned and forced outages, including inspections, repairs, contractor coordination, technical evaluations, and follow-up.
  • Develop and manage capital and O&M projects, including business cases, estimates, specifications, procurement, execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, OEMs, contractors, safety and environmental specialists, and internal subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a qualifying advanced engineering degree; a Master's degree may be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree.
  • Professional Engineer registration and PE license in current standing are required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.
  • Advanced engineering knowledge with the ability to independently solve complex problems and present technical recommendations.
  • Must be able to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Nice to have

  • Mechanical engineering degree and combined-cycle power plant operations, maintenance, outage, or project experience.
  • Knowledge of combustion turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, steam and condensate systems, pumps, cooling water systems, rotating equipment, valves, pressure parts, and mechanical integrity programs.
  • Experience with ASME codes, HRSG inspection and repair, flow-accelerated corrosion, corrosion under insulation, high-energy piping, technical specifications, contracts, budgeting, and project management.
  • Experience with Maximo, PowerPlan, PI Vision, Microsoft Office, and ACT.
