Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Downtown Los Angeles office, Los Angeles, California, USA

Salary: USD 95,000–125,000 annually, plus paid overtime and a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design and coordinate HVAC, plumbing, piping, and specialty exhaust systems for building projects.
• Prepare load calculations, equipment selections, engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documents.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and fire protection disciplines.
• Manage project tasks and deliverables while supporting quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Participate in client meetings, site visits, field investigations, construction meetings, and construction administration.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor requests while mentoring junior engineers and supporting proposals.

Requirements

• At least five years of mechanical engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• FE/EIT certification required; PE registration preferred.
• Experience designing HVAC systems for building projects and applying the California Mechanical, Plumbing, and Energy Codes, as well as applicable ASHRAE standards.
• Experience preparing construction documents and engineering calculations with industry-standard software.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.

Nice to have

• California Mechanical Engineer PE registration.
• Experience with plumbing systems, central plants, utility infrastructure, laboratory facilities, electrification, decarbonization, or energy-efficiency projects.
• Experience in healthcare, aerospace, industrial, laboratory, higher education, K-12, civic, commercial, or institutional projects.
• Experience with project management, construction administration, contractor coordination, proposals, scopes, and fee estimates.
• Experience with field investigations, existing-building assessments, and professional organizations such as ASHRAE.
