Sr Staff Automation & Controls Engineer (Server Manufacturing): Designing and implementing integrated automation, inspection, and testing systems for high-volume server manufacturing with an accent on mechatronics, robotics, process control, and data-driven improvement. Location: Secaucus, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $116,250–$155,000 base salary per year, plus potential bonus and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design and implement automated assembly, inspection, and testing equipment for server components, including PCBs, power modules, and cooling systems.
  • Develop mechatronic systems integrating robotics, sensors, actuators, PLCs, vision systems, motion control, and software.
  • Support smart factory and New Product Introduction initiatives through scalable automation strategies and manufacturing frameworks.
  • Translate DFM and PFMEA outputs into process controls that prevent variation and improve yield, reliability, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Specify, validate, install, and qualify automation solutions with equipment vendors for medium- to high-volume production.
  • Create system documentation and training materials, qualify tools, and provide technical support and operator training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in high-volume, high-complexity manufacturing, preferably in electronics assembly, PCBA, servers, aerospace, medical devices, or automotive.
  • Expertise in regression analysis, correlation analysis, DOE, SPC, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, and commonality studies.
  • Proficiency with Minitab, JMP, Python, R, SQL, or equivalent data-analysis tools.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD, industrial automation platforms such as Siemens or Allen-Bradley, PLC programming, robotic integration, and industrial sensors.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of AI/ML tools for statistical problem solving, predictive analytics, or anomaly detection.
  • MBA or exposure to business, finance, or economics.
