CNC Machinist - Programmer / Operator

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA; onsite, day shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

What you will do

• Set up, program, edit, and operate CNC lathes, mills, drills, and other numerically controlled machinery.
• Machine components from work orders, drawings, sketches, layouts, and written or verbal instructions.
• Maintain machining quality and tolerances within .0003 inches.
• Preset and potentially resharpen tools while working with stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, brass, and exotic materials.
• Inspect finished work with micrometers, bore gauges, vernier calipers, and other measuring instruments.
• Perform equipment maintenance, report operating issues and unsafe conditions, complete labor records, and maintain an orderly work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus technical school education and machinist knowledge or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of CNC machine tool programming and operating experience.
• Experience with both milling and lathe operations is preferred; the ability to operate at least two CNC machine tools is required.
• Previous manual machinist experience and the ability to read and interpret machine drawings.
• Working knowledge of programming languages, machine parameters, mathematical calculations, and elementary technical problem-solving.
• Detail-oriented, independent, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and complete work efficiently.
