Director of Instructional Design

Location: Remote (RMT), full-time; home office and hard-wired high-speed internet required. Evening and weekend flexibility may be needed.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 USD annually, based on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, evaluate, and develop instructional design teams.
• Set strategic direction for online course design and development in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Develop course-design methodologies using competency-based learning and adaptive learning technologies.
• Improve design and production processes while maintaining course quality and meeting organizational goals.
• Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, deliverables, and stakeholder communication.
• Design and develop courses, manage faculty relationships, and coordinate onboarding for instructional design employees and contractors.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of curriculum and instructional design experience, including 5 years leading instructional design teams.
• Demonstrated success recruiting, mentoring, and managing instructional designers.
• Expertise in competency-based learning models and adaptive learning technologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, U.S. Department of Education requirements, accreditation standards, and internal compliance policies.

Nice to have

• Doctorate in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Healthcare Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
• More than 10 years of instructional design experience, including 7 years leading large teams.
• Experience managing distributed or remote instructional design teams.
• Healthcare-sector education and accreditation experience.
• Experience with adult learners, underserved populations, international audiences, and tools such as Articulate, Captivate, or Camtasia.
