Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Putnam County and Northern Westchester County, New York, including Peekskill, Tarrytown, and Scarsdale. This is a remote-field role requiring work from home plus regular in-person appointments throughout the assigned territory; occasional travel to other territories may be required.

Salary: $69,398.62–$99,000 annually, with potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, and applicable regulations to determine claim validity.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claims reports.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders while providing customer service during the claims process.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and applicable company guidelines.

Requirements

• Must reside within the listed New York territory and service the assigned area.
• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong knowledge of property insurance, coverage, claims handling, residential and commercial construction, and water mitigation inspections.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents, plus proficiency with mobile and desktop documentation tools.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, navigate roofs at various heights, and crawl in tight spaces; rope and harness safety training may be required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience, a valid driver's license, and successful completion of required training, licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks.
