Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Insurance)

Location: Dubuque, Iowa, with residence required within the listed service-territory ZIP codes. Remote-field work combines home-based administrative work with in-person property inspections using a mobile office or vehicle. Travel outside the assigned territory may occasionally be required.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage for residential and commercial property claims.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Meet with policyholders, explain coverage, gather information, and guide customers through the claims process.
• Document evidence, prepare detailed reports, and evaluate policy terms and regulatory requirements.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits while collaborating with agents and other stakeholders.
• Handle difficult or emotional conversations and provide responsive customer service.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Ability to perform frequent lifting, carrying, ladder climbing, roof navigation, and crawling in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license; rope and harness safety training may be required.
• Successful completion of required training, licensing exams, motor vehicle record checks, and background checks.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property-claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling.
• Residential and commercial construction knowledge or water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
