What you will do
- Manage the international trade, export, import, and customs compliance program for the Indal business.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian export and import laws and US extraterritorial export controls in a defense manufacturing environment.
- Validate export classifications and jurisdictions, including ECCN, USML, ECL, and Harmonized Tariff Codes, with Engineering, Procurement, and Global Trade Compliance.
- Prepare and manage export permit applications and statuses in EXCOL, and track end-user statements and US re-export authorizations.
- Prepare shipping documentation, arrange air, ocean, and ground transportation, coordinate with freight forwarders and brokers, and manage incoming international material shipments.
- Optimize logistics costs and shipment methods while maintaining delivery schedules, supplier and customer relationships, QMS compliance, and health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience managing an export compliance program.
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma.
- Strong knowledge of Canada's EIPA, Controlled Goods requirements, ITAR, EAR, EXCOL, CERS, trade agreements, Incoterms, letters of credit, and transportation of dangerous goods regulations.
- Experience with export licenses, TAAs, MLAs, export classification, tariff codes, restricted-party screening, and dangerous-goods packaging and documentation.
- Experience with ERP software; Oracle EBS is preferred, along with intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Nice to have
- Defense or aerospace industry experience.
- Experience with WAWF/PIEE, Repairables Portal, and MIL-SPEC-2073 packaging and labeling.
