TL;DR
Avionics Technician (Aerospace): Installing, integrating, troubleshooting, and testing avionics and electrical subsystems on research and development airships with an accent on wiring harnesses, high-voltage systems, batteries, and cockpit avionics retrofits. Focus on performing precise system installations, diagnosing malfunctions, validating performance with test equipment, and documenting aircraft work for inspection.

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $45–$62 per hour, with an annual bonus and additional benefits.

What you will do

  • Install, remove, terminate, and test avionics and electrical components and systems.
  • Fabricate and maintain wiring harnesses, including ring-out and functional testing.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning electrical and avionics systems in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Set up test equipment and conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate system performance and reliability.
  • Document aircraft work completely and prepare installations for inspection.
  • Provide flight operational support and follow FOD, tool control, 6-S, environmental health, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of avionics experience; 5 or more years preferred.
  • Four years of experience in an avionics or electrical career field, or two years of accredited aviation electronics schooling plus two years of aviation experience.
  • Experience with electrical wiring harness maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and cockpit avionics retrofits.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, ESC, BMS, and batteries.
  • Proficiency with multimeters, crimpers, high-voltage testers, calibrated tools, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and other hand tools.
  • Ability to operate lifts and maintenance platforms, obtain a DOT driver license, pass a background check, and complete a drug test where applicable.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing installation teams.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and other basic technology.
