Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Software (CAD/CAM & Geometry)

What you will do

• Lead and develop the computational geometry software team, setting technical priorities and providing mentorship.
• Partner with manufacturing and mechanical engineers to translate production challenges into software requirements and development priorities.
• Guide software development for analyzing, manipulating, and generating complex 3D geometry for composite parts and tooling.
• Develop internal engineering tools that improve the speed, quality, and scalability of manufacturing workflows.
• Automate workflows across CAD/CAM, tooling, machining, and other manufacturing processes.
• Shape technical architecture, development practices, product tradeoffs, and the team roadmap while recruiting and growing the team.

Requirements

• Professional experience in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field, with an understanding of how physical parts move from design into production.
• Strong programming fundamentals and experience leading engineers, technical projects, or cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• Experience with computational geometry, CAD/CAM systems, geometric modeling, or software involving 3D part geometry.
• Ability to translate ambiguous manufacturing problems into technical requirements and software solutions.
• Ability to work across software, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
• ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, qualifying refugee or asylee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Programming experience in Rust, C++, Go, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with composites, CNC machining, tooling, additive manufacturing, CAD/CAM platforms, geometric kernels, mesh processing, or solid modeling.
• Experience developing manufacturing automation tools or converting manual engineering workflows into repeatable software-driven processes.
• Startup or small-team experience and experience managing software engineers in a technical environment.
