TL;DR
Systems Engineer IV - (E4) (Electro-Optical) (Semiconductor Equipment): Leading the development and integration of advanced semiconductor equipment platforms with an accent on electro-optical subsystems, system architecture, and performance verification. Focus on solving complex issues across optical, mechanical, electrical, software, and algorithmic subsystems while defining requirements, conducting trade studies, and guiding system integration.

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon or Tigard, Oregon, United States. Travel required up to 20% of the time. Relocation eligible.

Salary: $140,000–$192,500 per year, with potential bonus and stock compensation.

What you will do

  • Lead systems engineering for advanced semiconductor equipment platforms combining electrical, mechanical, optical, algorithmic, and software subsystems.
  • Translate customer and market requirements into system architectures, specifications, performance metrics, and subsystem allocations.
  • Lead architecture trade studies, design reviews, and system integration through prototyping, qualification, and product delivery.
  • Develop electro-optical subsystems including illumination, imaging, sensors, detectors, laser-based technologies, machine vision, metrology, and photonics systems.
  • Define optical performance requirements, error budgets, alignment tolerances, calibration methods, and system verification strategies.
  • Troubleshoot system-level issues involving optical alignment, vibration, thermal effects, signal integrity, controls, software, sensors, and algorithms while mentoring engineers and coordinating cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 7–10 years of engineering experience in semiconductor equipment, photonics, electro-optical systems, advanced instrumentation, aerospace EO/IR systems, imaging systems, or a related field.
  • Experience developing complex multidisciplinary systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Experience with system architecture, requirements, integration, verification, validation, and performance testing.
  • Ability to work across optics, controls, software, mechanical, electrical, process engineering, manufacturing, product marketing, and project management teams.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Semiconductor capital equipment development experience.
  • Experience with laser technologies, imaging systems, machine vision, metrology systems, or optical sensors.
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools and methodologies, precision motion control, calibration systems, or automation architectures.
