TL;DR
Systems Engineer III (Aerospace): Decomposing and tracing nuclear survivability requirements across airborne command-and-control systems with an accent on requirements engineering, systems integration, verification and validation, and model-based systems engineering. Focus on allocating radiation, EMP/HEMP, blast, and thermal requirements, coordinating radiation testing, monitoring hardness assurance processes, and resolving requirements gaps across system architecture.

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado, United States; hybrid environment with occasional travel

Salary: $108,496.89–$149,183.22 per year

What you will do

  • Decompose and allocate nuclear survivability requirements covering radiation, EMP/HEMP, blast, and thermal effects.
  • Maintain requirements traceability from system-level criteria through design and test artifacts.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and specialty engineering teams to implement requirements across the system architecture.
  • Support radiation test planning, data review, documentation, and hardness assurance or hardness surveillance activities.
  • Prepare compliance matrices, verification plans, and technical reports for internal and government customer reviews.
  • Lead system and decision analysis, technical planning, risk management, technical monitoring, and lifecycle management while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience developing, decomposing, and tracing requirements for complex systems.
  • Familiarity with nuclear survivability concepts, including radiation effects, hardness assurance, and EMP, or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • Understanding of systems engineering across requirements, design, verification, and validation lifecycles.
  • Experience with JIRA, Jama, and Cameo; strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required for employment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear survivability standards such as MIL-STD-3023 or DG-1023.
  • Experience with radiation hardness assurance programs, radiation test facilities, test data analysis, or hardness surveillance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with DOORS or Jama requirements management tools.
  • Active U.S. government security clearance.
