Senior Cloud Application Engineer (AWS)

Location: On-site at ASR’s San Diego, California facility; travel up to 25% may be required for customer integration and operational needs.

Salary: $120,000–$200,000 per year, plus possible bonus, equity, and company benefits.

Apium Swarm Robotics develops swarm autonomy software for air, surface, undersea, and ground vehicles in commercial and defense environments.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate AWS applications and services powering the Apium Swarm Simulator for training, validation, sales operations, and customer environment modeling.
• Connect cloud services with CI/CD pipelines so users can select rolling latest builds or pin specific software releases.
• Deploy simulator services across EC2, ECS, EKS, Fargate, and ECR within firewalled multi-tenant environments that isolate customer and partner data.
• Implement authentication, authorization, permissioned logs, telemetry access, observability, infrastructure-as-code, and cost management.
• Support partners integrating with the virtual API and translate integration needs into secure, scoped access to simulation environments.
• Build distributed stochastic simulations, benchmark and regression testing, statistical reporting, and automated release gates for candidate builds.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• On-site work in San Diego, California is required.
• 7+ years of professional cloud application, cloud engineering, or platform engineering experience, primarily with AWS.
• Hands-on experience with EC2, ECS, EKS, Fargate, and ECR, including multi-tenant or isolated environments.
• Experience with AWS Cognito and IAM, least-privilege security, CI/CD, artifact management, Git, and GitLab.
• Experience orchestrating large-scale parallel or distributed cloud workloads and providing technical leadership with limited oversight.

Nice to have

• Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK experience.
• AWS Batch, Step Functions, Ray, Dask, or similar distributed job-orchestration experience.
• Kubernetes, observability, logging, API integration, FinOps, or secure software supply-chain experience.
• Experience with regulated environments such as AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP, or DoD cloud standards.
• U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one; relevant AWS certifications.
