Human Resources Associate (Workday): Managing recruitment, appointments, classification, compensation, payroll and benefits support for faculty, staff and students at the UBC Okanagan Campus with an accent on Workday administration, collective agreement compliance, and complex HR advisory services. Focus on resolving employment and payment issues, coordinating recruitment and internal placement processes, and supporting managers, employees, unions, payroll and benefits teams.

Location: hirify.global Okanagan Campus, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada

Salary: $5,692.25–$8,179.50 CAD monthly

What you will do

  • Advise faculty, staff, students, managers, and academic departments on recruitment, interviewing, appointments, classification, internal placement, and employment procedures.
  • Coordinate job postings, recruitment documentation, contracts, recall processes, auxiliary staff hiring, and recruitment training.
  • Administer and support Workday, HRMS, and the Integrated Sessional Information System, including approvals, data updates, training, and system issue resolution.
  • Provide guidance on collective agreements, employment legislation, grievances, layoffs, terminations, performance management, tenure, promotion, and leave procedures.
  • Support job evaluation, classification, compensation, payroll, benefits eligibility, salary administration, and investigation of pay discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Advisors, senior HR staff, client departments, union and association representatives, payroll, benefits, and other service units.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Two to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources management practices and provincial and federal employment legislation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, maintain accuracy and attention to detail, organize and analyze information, prioritize work, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with client departments, unions, associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, including respect for diverse and conflicting perspectives.

Nice to have

  • Human resources experience in a complex union environment.
  • Knowledge of immigration, employment standards, human rights, privacy, taxation, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Workday or other HRMS systems, MS Access, spreadsheets, and word processing.
