Operations Tech Lead (Data Center Infrastructure)

Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; hybrid workplace.

What you will do

• Lead and supervise Senior Operations Analysts, manage shift coverage, conduct handovers, and provide real-time coaching.
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex operational issues and coordinate resolution across internal teams and remote data center technicians.
• Oversee and perform operational work across servers, storage, networking equipment, platform software, and data center hardware.
• Lead root cause analysis for hardware failures, RAID rebuilds, storage allocation, and disk lifecycle issues.
• Ensure rack and stack activities, hardware installation, in-cabinet maintenance, and IPMI/BMC configuration meet operational standards.
• Maintain runbooks, workflows, escalation procedures, and SOPs while identifying and implementing process improvements.

Requirements

• English communication at B2 level or higher.
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams in data center or infrastructure operations.
• Deep expertise in server hardware diagnostics, replacement, upgrades, and fleet management.
• Strong knowledge of rack layouts, cabling, power distribution, remote hands coordination, RAID, disk provisioning, and storage troubleshooting.
• Advanced Linux system administration, including scripting, automation, and performance tuning, plus solid Windows Server knowledge.
• Strong incident command skills and experience with monitoring platforms, ticketing systems, and incident workflows; a computer science or information systems degree, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, Bash, or Ansible for infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with DCIM or asset management platforms.
• Experience coordinating multiple data centers or points of presence simultaneously.
• Background in ISP or cloud infrastructure environments.
