Senior Data Centre Technician (Data Centre)

Location: Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia; onsite at Sunshine Coast data centre facilities

What you will do

• Support the Facility Manager with daily data centre operations, technical maintenance, and customer service.
• Maintain safe, secure, and reliable operation of critical facility systems, including power, cooling, cabling, monitoring, and rack infrastructure.
• Perform HV switching as directed and assist with customer equipment installation and facility maintenance.
• Coordinate customer provisioning requests, contractors, workloads, staffing resources, and operational SLAs.
• Lead the technician team as a communications infrastructure subject matter expert and provide training and technical guidance.
• Manage incidents, prepare operational reports, and drive improvements to processes, policies, workflows, and service performance.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within a critical facility or data centre.
• Electrical or telecommunications qualifications with relevant hands-on experience.
• Experience leading a team or working in a team lead capacity.
• Knowledge of data centre operations, rack management, IT equipment installation, power, cooling, structured cabling, and cable management.
• Strong customer service, communication, planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to participate in an on-call roster.

Nice to have

• Certificate III in Telecommunications.
• HV switching certification.
• Familiarity with building management and monitoring systems.
• Basic understanding of the ITIL framework.
• Interest in high-density power systems and advanced cooling technologies.
