Senior Engineering Technical Program Manager - Jira Administration (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid

Annual base salary in Canada: CAD 108,000–149,000, plus equity where applicable, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define and execute the strategy for planning, tracking, and reporting engineering work across Jira, Advanced Roadmaps, Confluence, and AI integrations.
• Own the ORD Atlassian toolchain, including architecture, schemas, workflows, custom fields, permissions, notifications, and AI integrations.
• Design scalable self-service administration and automate ticket triage, sprint planning suggestions, status reporting, and other operational workflows.
• Standardize Jira workflows across product development, architecture improvements, and run-the-business operations.
• Govern Jira data and engineering metrics covering resource allocation, dependencies, cycle time, lead time, pipeline health, and bottlenecks.
• Provide administration, JQL filtering, automation rules, documentation, training, and cross-functional process enablement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience administering Jira and Confluence in an enterprise engineering environment supporting 500+ users.
• Proficiency with Jira Query Language, basic SQL, or equivalent database queries.
• Experience integrating, evaluating, piloting, and scaling AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, Atlassian Rovo, or GitHub Copilot in product development workflows.
• Strong understanding of agile and lean development, Scrum ceremonies, SAFe or portfolio planning, PDLC, SDLC, release management, CI/CD, and infrastructure deployment models.
• Ability to analyze configuration and application logs, troubleshoot complex issues, and communicate technical conditions clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira Service Management, Jira Advanced Roadmaps, and Faros.ai.
• Ability or willingness to extend Atlassian functionality through scripting, macros, and API automation.
• Experience designing AI-augmented workflows such as automated ticket enrichment, AI-driven retrospectives, or LLM-assisted reporting.
