Senior Systems Analyst (FinOps)

Location: Hybrid role for applicants within commuting distance of Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska; more days are expected in-office than remote.

Salary: $82,000–$137,000 USD base salary per year.

What you will do

• Own models for tracking, allocating, forecasting, and optimizing cloud and software spend.
• Monitor AWS and the broader technology stack for cost anomalies and build guardrails to prevent recurring issues.
• Maintain chargeback models connecting spend to services, squads, and contracts while partnering with Accounting and FP&A.
• Automate recurring work with Python, GitHub Actions, AWS Lambda, SQL, and DBT.
• Manage AWS reservations and Savings Plans and identify additional cost-efficiency opportunities.
• Develop formal proposals and drive approved initiatives across engineering, product, finance, and accounting.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, preferably in a Cloud FinOps context.
• 5+ years of experience using code to automate manual work, with strong Python and working SQL proficiency.
• Hands-on AWS experience, including pricing, cost models, Reserved Instances, and Savings Plans.
• Ability to define ambiguous problems, create formal proposals, and manage delivery using Scrum or Kanban in Jira.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including communication with Directors, VPs, and engineers.
• Experience using AI to improve productivity and decision-making is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with CloudZero, Terraform via Spacelift, GitHub Actions, AWS Lambda, DBT, APIs, and data warehouse workflows.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner certification or practical FinOps experience.
• Foundational software engineering experience.
• Experience with the Claude ecosystem.
