2nd Shift Rough Mill Operator (Woodworking)

What you will do

• Set up, operate, and monitor rip saws, crosscut saws, gang saws, chop saws, straight-line saws, and other wood-processing equipment.
• Inspect lumber, identify defects, and process materials according to dimensions, quality specifications, production schedules, and work orders.
• Measure and verify cut parts using tape measures, rulers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring devices.
• Sort, stack, stage, and track processed materials while removing defective parts and maximizing lumber yield.
• Clean machinery, perform routine preventive maintenance, report malfunctions and safety concerns, and maintain production records.
• Follow safety and lockout/tagout procedures, maintain an organized work area, and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or work experience demonstrating performance competency.
• Previous manufacturing, woodworking, lumber processing, sawmill, rough mill, or related experience.
• Basic math, measurement, and production documentation skills.
• Ability to safely operate and troubleshoot woodworking machinery and adjust processes to maintain quality.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, perform repetitive motions, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance or mechanical equipment.
• Ability to work around wood dust, noise, vibration, moving machinery, and varying temperatures while wearing required PPE.
