Senior Engineering Manager, Mortgage (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; expected to work from a hirify.global office 3+ days a week. Relocation to a hirify.global hub may be supported.

Salary: $269,000–$316,000 USD per year in San Francisco.

What you will do

• Lead 16+ engineers as the head of engineering for the mortgage business.
• Own the Mortgage platform’s technical roadmap, architecture, APIs, integrations, AI/ML-powered verification decisions, and customer experience.
• Partner with Product and business leadership to shape strategy, deliver features, and achieve business and revenue targets.
• Set technical direction, reduce technical debt, and scale the architecture while maintaining delivery speed.
• Represent Engineering in strategy planning, including capacity modeling, headcount planning, and prioritization.
• Manage quality incidents, build customer relationships, hire engineering talent, and mentor team members.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering management experience and 12+ years of overall engineering experience.
• Experience managing large engineering teams, including other managers.
• Experience owning a P&L or business line with revenue targets, capacity planning, and cross-functional accountability.
• Deep knowledge of service architecture, system design, and lean software development principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating technical strategy for executives.
• Experience with machine learning and AI, plus ownership, resilience, urgency, and a bias for action.

• Experience in mortgage lending or another highly regulated, high-stakes industry.
