Engineering Director, Product & AI

Location: On-site at the NYC headquarters; must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City and work in person at the HQ.

Salary: $290,000–$325,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead engineering execution across multiple product lines, partnering with Product and Design to set priorities, commitments, staffing, and delivery plans.
• Guide architecture, system design, shared capabilities, technical tradeoffs, and consequential design and code reviews.
• Shape the product engineering organization through team structures, ownership boundaries, hiring plans, and resource allocation.
• Drive the adoption of AI across engineering teams while maintaining code quality, technical understanding, and sound decision-making.
• Connect engineering decisions to advisor and business outcomes, ensuring shipped capabilities solve meaningful customer problems.
• Set standards for testing, security, observability, reliability, and production ownership while developing engineering leaders.

Requirements

• Experience managing multiple engineering teams with accountability for delivery, staffing, performance, and growth.
• Track record of delivering complex customer-facing products with measurable business results.
• Strong engineering depth and current system-design judgment across data models, service boundaries, integrations, and failure modes.
• Technical fluency with applied AI, including evaluating LLM approaches and their quality, reliability, latency, cost, and failure modes.
• Hands-on use of AI development tools and experience helping engineers use them effectively.
• Based in or willing to relocate to NYC and work in person at the headquarters.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-powered production features such as LLM integrations, agentic workflows, or intelligent automations.
• Fintech knowledge spanning financial services, wealth management, regulatory compliance, or financial data integrations.
• Experience leading teams in an early-stage, high-ambiguity startup environment.
• Experience managing both in-person and distributed engineers and collaborating closely with Product and Design.
