What you will do

• Organize, allocate, and supervise an assigned crew of electricians and other building-related trades.
• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of low- and high-voltage equipment and systems.
• Test and repair fire protection systems and verify work against applicable codes, specifications, and safety requirements.
• Respond to trouble calls and emergencies, including outside normal working hours.
• Prepare job cost estimates, order materials, and maintain timekeeping, costing, equipment, assignment, maintenance, and inspection records.
• Train workers and apprentices, communicate with customers, and address day-to-day on-site service issues.

Requirements

• Journeyperson-level “B” ticket Electrician trade certification.
• Field Safety Representative certification and a valid BC driver’s licence.
• At least five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, use standard office software and controller programming software, and work various shifts.
• Ability to respond at short notice to emergency calls outside working hours.

Nice to have

• Registered Fire Protection Technician certification through ASTTBC or CFAA Registered Technician status.
• Experience testing and repairing fire protection systems.
• Current knowledge of electrical and safety codes, regulations, standards, and practices.
• Knowledge of Student Housing and Hospitality Services operations, procedures, and processes.
