Security Firmware Engineer (SSD)

What you will do

• Develop, review, document, and maintain firmware source code in C, C++, and Rust.
• Analyze product and customer specifications and translate requirements into firmware architectures, development plans, and validation plans.
• Develop low-level firmware, operating-system components, device architectures, and hardware-software interactions with hardware and ASIC design teams.
• Perform unit and system-level testing, failure analysis, debugging, and product validation.
• Collaborate with engineering stakeholders across the SSD architecture and coordinate priorities to deliver project milestones.
• Participate in Agile/Kanban development focused on product quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software or firmware development experience in embedded systems using C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience developing embedded firmware for real-time operating systems and working with hardware-software interactions.
• Experience with embedded firmware development environments, including compilers, debuggers, emulators, and toolchains.
• Strong written and presentation skills, professional communication, multitasking, and technical leadership abilities.
• Experience leading teams or feature development through planning, implementation, validation, and other product lifecycle stages.

Nice to have

• Experience in the SSD or enterprise storage industry.
• Experience with SHA2/3, HMAC, KDF, ECC, RSA, or ML-DSA cryptographic algorithms.
• Knowledge of SATA, SAS, PCIe, NVMe, Opal, ESSC, or AES security protocols and techniques.
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery, DevOps processes, unit testing, project planning, and risk management.
