Senior Staff or Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in hirify.global NYC, Tribeca, New York; remote on Mondays and Fridays, in-office Tuesday through Thursday. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring new H-1B sponsorship. H-1B transfers and TN visa sponsorship for eligible Canadian and Mexican citizens are supported.

Salary: $210,000–$240,000 base for Staff Engineers or $255,000–$280,000 base for Senior Staff Engineers, plus equity. Compensation is localized for roles available remotely.

What you will do

• Own technically complex, high-impact problems from definition through production and iteration.
• Work across the stack and product areas, including learning, student experience, growth, internal operations, and engineering foundations.
• Shape architecture and technical direction while writing and shipping production code.
• Partner with product, design, operations, and leadership to define and prioritize what to build.
• Improve engineering effectiveness through technical investments, design reviews, code reviews, mentorship, and evolving development practices.
• Use modern AI tools and help shape an AI-native engineering workflow.

Requirements

• Track record of owning complex software systems or product initiatives with meaningful technical and business impact.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to move between architecture and implementation.
• Experience creating clarity from ambiguous problems and driving execution.
• Experience influencing technical decisions beyond an immediate codebase or team.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly with technical and non-technical partners.
• U.S. work authorization without requiring new H-1B sponsorship.
